Description: This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication. Human colorectal cancer decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM), derived from cancer patients’ surgical resections, polarizes monocytes towards anti-inflammatory M2-like macrophages with increased expression of CCL18. The presence of this immunosuppressive chemokine is crucial for colorectal cancer cells invasion, and its increased expression at the tumor invasive front is correlated with advanced tumor staging.
