Description: This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication. TRPS1 is a repressive transcriptional factor. It has a role in the regulation of chondrocyte and perichondrium development. TRPS1 specifically regulates histone deacetylation, increasing the activity of histone deacetylases, thereby condensing the chromatin and preventing activator transcriptional factors from binding the DNA and initiating transcription. TRPS1's NLS is recognised by importin molecules, which move the protein through nuclear pores, allowing TRPS1 to complete its function.
