Description: This template shows how a GAL4 driver line fly is crossed with a UAS-target gene line fly to produce progeny in which GAL4 protein binds the UAS sequence and activates transcription of the gene of interest. The gene of interest is normally silenced in the UAS-target line but becomes actively expressed only in the progeny carrying both the GAL4 driver and UAS-target elements.
