Description: This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication. PKM2 expression levels play an important role in glycolysis and hence, tumor growth as cancer cells modify normal cell metabolism for their own proliferation. In this study, the authors used PMK2 specific siRNA to knockdown PKM2 and examine its effect on cell proliferation, apoptosis and tumor growth. The results show that si156 decreased tumor cell viability, increased tumor cell apoptosis and decreased xenograft tumor volume without affecting normal non-cancerous cell viability.
