LDLRAD3 Pathogenesis | Graphical Abstract
Description
Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) is an alphavirus responsible for neurological disease epidemics across the Americas. A significant discovery identified Low-density lipoprotein receptor class A domain-containing 3 (LDLRAD3) as a critical entry receptor for VEEV. Using wild-type and Ldlrad3-deficient mice, researchers found that LDLRAD3 plays a crucial role in VEEV infection, pathogenesis, and neurotropism. Ldlrad3-deficient mice showed reduced neuronal infection and survived VEEV.
