Description
The stages of pancreatic cancer and corresponding treatments. In Stage 1, the tumor is confined to the pancreas and resectable, treated by Whipple procedure/pancreatectomy. In Stage 2, the tumor invades lymph nodes but remains borderline resectable, treated with chemotherapy and surgery. Stage 3 shows the tumor invading nearby blood vessels, treated with chemotherapy/radiation. In Stage 4, the cancer spreads to distant organs (metastatic), also treated with chemotherapy/radiation.
