Description
A schematic illustrating the lifecycle of Drosophila melanogaster at 25°C. After mating between male and female flies, the fertilized embryo develops and hatches as a 1st instar larva. The larva then advances through the 2nd and 3rd instar stages before reaching the pupal stage. From the pupa, a fully developed fruit fly emerges. Each developmental stage annotated with its specific time window.
