Adrenergic Stimulation in Smooth Muscle Cells
Description
This template shows how norepinephrine binds the alpha-1 adrenergic receptor on a smooth muscle cell, activating a G-protein and phospholipase C to produce DAG and IP3 from PIP2. IP3 triggers calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum while DAG activates PKC, and both pathways converge to cause phosphorylation of targets and contraction of the smooth muscle.
