Bacterial Two-Component Signal Transduction System: Sensor Histidine Kinase (SHK)
Description
This template shows the three core enzymatic activities of a bacterial sensor histidine kinase, autokinase activity that uses ATP to autophosphorylate the kinase in response to an input signal, phosphotransferase activity that transfers the phosphate to a response regulator, and phosphatase activity that removes the phosphate from the response regulator. Phosphorylated response regulators then bind DNA to autoregulate the kinase and response regulator genes or activate response genes that drive a cellular response.
