Basic principles of arterial spin labeling (ASL)
Description
The general principle of ASL, includes a labeling plane, where the water spins in the blood are labeled, followed by an acquisition of the “labeled” image. Next, the same procedure is repeated without labeling of the water protons and then a control image is acquired. The subtraction of the labeled from the control image provides the regional CBF.
