Cancer Vaccine Principle
Description
This template shows how injection of a tumor antigen activates dendritic cells (APCs) in the lymph node, which present antigen via MHC I and MHC II to naive or memory CD8+ and CD4+ T cells through TCR, CD28, CD40, and CD27 costimulatory interactions. The activated T cells then migrate to the tumor site, release cytokines such as IL-2, IFN-gamma, and TNF, kill tumor cells, and release additional tumor antigens to continue the cycle.
