Cross-bridge Cycle
Description
This template shows the five-step cross-bridge cycle of muscle contraction, beginning with a cocked myosin head bound to ADP, followed by calcium binding to troponin to expose actin binding sites, the myosin power stroke, ATP binding that detaches myosin from actin, and ATP hydrolysis that recocks the myosin head. Thin filament components troponin and tropomyosin and the thick filament are labeled throughout the cycle.
