Description
TRECs and KRECs are small circular DNA fragments deriving from receptor formation in T-Cells and B-Cells respectively (TCRs and BCRs). Amplfication of these fragments through PCR is a much promising quantitative method of assesing the levels of T-Cells and B-Cells, thus the function of the immune system. Lower than normal levels of TRECs and KRECs can indicate hereditary primary immunodeficiencies, making this early screening vital for the patient's better monitoring and therapeutic results.
