DNA Methylation
Description
This template shows the DNA methylation cycle, in which DNMT3A and DNMT3B carry out de novo methylation of cytosine to 5-methylcytosine and DNMT1 maintains this mark during replication. It also shows the active demethylation pathway, where TET enzymes oxidize 5-methylcytosine stepwise to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine, 5-formylcytosine, and 5-carboxylcytosine, with TDG then converting these intermediates back to cytosine, alongside a passive demethylation route.
