Endosmosis-Mediated Endosymbiosis
Description
This diagram illustrates the endosymbiotic theory of the origin of mitochondria and chloroplasts. It shows a eukaryotic cell, initially lacking mitochondria, engulfing an aerobic bacterium. Later, this cell also engulfs a cyanobacterium. These engulfed bacteria eventually evolve into mitochondria and chloroplasts, respectively.
