Description
This template shows how transferrin-bound iron is taken up through the transferrin receptor and processed by STEAP3 and DMT1 into a labile iron pool that drives lipid peroxidation via the Fenton reaction, lipoxygenases, and P450 oxidoreductase. In parallel it shows the glutamate-cystine antiporter and glutamine uptake feeding glutathione synthesis, which GPX4 normally uses to block lipid peroxidation, with disruption of this pathway leading to ferroptosis.
