The Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is a clinical tool used to assess the level of consciousness and brain function of a patient who has suffered a traumatic brain injury or other acute neurological injuries. It was developed by doctors Graham Teasdale and Bryan Jennett in 1974 at the University of Glasgow.
