Gradient temperature
Description
The gradient temperature test assesses temperature preference or sensitivity in animals by exposing them to a surface with a continuous temperature range, typically from 5°C to 50°C. Animals are placed in the middle and allowed to freely explore. Their position over time indicates preferred or avoided temperatures. This test is useful for studying thermosensation, pain thresholds, and the effects of genetic or pharmacological manipulations on temperature processing.
