Description
This template shows the Hedgehog signaling pathway in its off and on states within a cell containing a primary cilium. In the off state, PTCH inhibits SMO and Gli3 is processed into a repressor that blocks target gene transcription, while in the on state Hedgehog ligand binding to PTCH releases SMO inhibition, allowing Gli2 to activate transcription of Hedgehog target genes.
