CaC can be categorized according to the region where it originates. Among the most common histological subtypes are squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) which affects the squamous cells of the external tissue of the cervix known as ectocervix, adenocarcinoma (AC) originating in the glandular cells located inside the cervix also called endocervix and adenosquamous carcinoma which shares characteristics of SCC and AC.
