Description

Insulin binds to its receptor allowing it to self-phosphorylate. IRS-1 binds to the receptor allowing it to be phosphorylated. PI3K binds to ISR-1 resulting in PI3K becoming catalytically active. PI3K adds a phosphate to PIP2, recruiting PDK-1 and Akt to the membrane. PDK-1 phosphorylated Akt. AS160 catalyzes the conversion of Rab-GTP to Rab-GDP. PKB inhibits AS160. Rab participates in GLUT4 exocytosis and fusion with the plasma membrane. The SNARE complex allows for the embedding of GLUT4.
