Description

This template shows three ways antibiotics interact with a Gram-negative bacterial cell: one antibiotic passes through a porin protein and blocks a penicillin-binding protein to stop peptidoglycan synthesis, another is removed by an antibiotic efflux pump, and a third cannot access the outer membrane at all. Labels identify the porin protein, penicillin-binding protein, and efflux pump involved in each mechanism.
