Lytic and Lysogenic Cycle
Description
This template shows the lytic and lysogenic cycles of a bacteriophage infecting a bacterial cell, starting with phage attachment and DNA injection. In the lytic cycle new virions assemble and lyse the cell, while in the lysogenic cycle the phage DNA integrates into the host chromosome as a prophage and is passed to daughter cells through cell division.
