Mannose Suppresses Macrophage-Mediated Inflammation
Description
This template compares macrophage glucose metabolism with and without mannose, showing that in the absence of mannose, glucose is converted through glycolysis and the TCA cycle to succinate, activating Hif-1α and IL-1β mediated inflammation. When mannose is present, it competes with glucose for hexokinase, reducing glycolysis, TCA cycle activity, and succinate levels, which suppresses IL-1β mediated inflammation.
