Description:

This template shows resting microglia becoming classically activated into an M1 proinflammatory state after exposure to MAMPs (including LPS), IFN-gamma, and GM-CSF. The activated microglia release inflammatory mediators such as IL-1beta, IL-6, TNF-alpha, and MHC II, driving a neurotoxic function that leads to a degenerated neuron.
