Negative Feedback Loops of the Male Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) Axis
Description
Illustrates the regulation of male reproductive hormones through a negative feedback loop. The hypothalamus releases GnRH, stimulating the anterior pituitary gland to secrete FSH and LH. LH acts on Leydig cells to produce testosterone, while FSH stimulates Sertoli cells, which support spermatogenesis and release inhibin. Testosterone and inhibin provide negative feedback to the hypothalamus and pituitary, to inhibit GnRH and LH, respectively.
