Description
This template shows the six steps of Northern and Southern blotting: separating nucleic acids by size through gel electrophoresis, applying a nitrocellulose membrane to the agarose gel, blotting and migration of the nucleic acids onto the membrane using filter paper and a sponge, obtaining a membrane with bound unlabeled nucleic acids, hybridizing the membrane with a labeled probe, and visualizing the labeled bands by autoradiography. Each step is illustrated with a corresponding gel or membrane image.
