Overview of Strategies to Make Migratory Stem Cells Therapeutic Against Cancer
Description
This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication.
Stem cells (SCs) migrate to tumors by following chemokine gradients and can be engineered with anti-tumor properties, including 1) producing cytotoxic proteins or carrying enzymes that convert a prodrug to cytotoxic products, 2) secreting chemokines to activate immune cells against the tumor, 3) producing oncolytic viruses, 4) carrying chemotherapeutics encapsulated in nanoparticles, or 5) conjugation to a carrier of immunotherapies to prevent the downregulation of T-cells.
