An editable high resolution scientific image depicting Pathophysiology of abdominal pain

Description

Abdominal pain occurs due to the activation of nociceptive pathways, where C afferent fibers transmit painful stimuli. These fibers enter the spinal cord bilaterally through the dorsal horn, synapsing with secondary neurons. This bilateral convergence allows nociceptive signals from both sides of the body to be transmitted to higher brain centers. As a result, the pain is often diffuse and poorly localized, making it difficult to identify the exact source of discomfort.
