Pedagogy - Ion Mobility Generic Schematic
Description
Generic schematic of an ion mobility cell used to separate proteins. Proteins used are bovine serum albumin (BSA, PDB: 3V03) and human serum amyloid P (1LGN). This figure illustrated how smaller more compact proteins like BSA will travel faster through the drift cell compared to larger more elongated proteins such as amyloid P resulting in a longer drift time. Adapted from Zhong, et al. Expert Rev. Proteomics 2012.
