Polyethylenimine (PEI) Transfection
Description
This figure illustrates the polyethylenimine (PEI)-mediated DNA transfection pathway. Positively charged PEI binds to negatively charged DNA to form PEI-DNA nanoparticles (polyplexes). These nanoparticles are endocytosed into cells and escape the endosome to release DNA. The released DNA enters the nucleus, where it is transcribed into mRNA and subsequently translated into proteins, demonstrating the process of gene expression following PEI-based DNA delivery.
