Primary Haemostasis
Description
Figure 1 Primary haemostasis. Endothelial injury exposes subendothelial matrix proteins and von Willebrand factor (vWF). Platelets adhere to collagen via surface receptors (glycoprotein VI, integrin α2β1, or vWF). Activation triggers shape change and phospholipid metabolism, producing thromboxane A2 (TXA2) and ADP, which recruit additional platelets. The GPIIb/IIIa receptor translocate to the membrane, binding fibrinogen and linking platelets to form a primary plug
