SARS-CoV-2 Genome Sequencing using Oxford Nanopore Technologies
Description
This template was adapted from the original submission. Edits were made to enhance scientific accuracy, optimal usability and/or to meet industry-leading design standards for science communication.
Rapid sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 is key for a correct public health response during a pandemic. Through nanopore sequencing, RNA samples are retrotranscribed, and the whole genome amplified with various sets of primers. Amplified fragments can incorporate barcodes through a transposase and then samples can be pooled and sequenced through nanopores. Detected current patterns over time define the specific nucleobases in a sequence, which can be demultiplexed, assembled and analyzed.
