An editable high resolution scientific image depicting The absorption mechanism of the di and tripeptides in the intestinal epithelium through (PEPT-1)

Description

This mechanism is activated by the electrochemical proton gradient that is directed inward. Na+/H+ exchanger (NHE3) mediates the electroneutral efflux of the H+ in exchange with extracellular Na+. Homeostasis is brought to the cell when Na+ exits the cell to the bloodstream through Na+/K+ -ATPase, supported by K+ channels to maintain the ions’ balance in the cell. The bigger circles of ions represent the location of the higher concentration.
