Transcellular Transport of Glucose
Description
This template shows transcellular transport of glucose across intestinal enterocytes, with glucose and Na+ entering the apical membrane through a Na+-driven glucose symporter. Glucose then exits the basolateral membrane via a glucose carrier protein while a Na+/K+ pump maintains the ion gradient, moving glucose from the low-glucose intestinal lumen to the high-glucose extracellular space.
