Using Genetics to Unravel Complexity
Description
The microbiome includes vast numbers of bacterial taxa and an even larger number of small molecules from their biochemical pathways, many of which circulate in the bloodstream and are bioactive. A key challenge in microbiome research is linking specific bacteria to their products and physiological effects. We use mouse genetics to identify co-mapping QTL, helping to uncover causal relationships between bacteria, their products, and host outcomes.
