Vasculogenesis and Angiogenesis
Description
A visualization of the two vascularization processes: vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. In vasculogenesis, de novo blood vessel formation occurs when endothelial precursor cell and hematopoietic stem cell aggregates migrate to form a lumen. Angiogenesis involves new blood vessel formation from pre-existing vessels. Angiogenesis: proteolytic breakdown of basement membrane and detachment of mural cells, tip cell formation to guide vessel formation, stalk-cells elongating to form the new lumen
