CBF is a master regulator of stress response. As shown by the blunt red arrows, SVALKA negatively regulates CBF1 and CBF3, and CBF1 in turn negatively regulates biomass production. As shown by green arrows, CBF1 expression positively regulates genes in the cold response, drought response, biotic stress response, and circadian clock pathways.
